Improving Customer Service Feedback Processes

In the third review of the AODA, the Honourable David Onley recommends needed improvements to the Act. During the public meetings Onley held while preparing his review, attendees outlined many barriers that people with disabilities face. More improvements to the AODA would help to remove existing barriers and prevent future ones. Statement: OHRC Files Motion to Address Ontario’s Breach of Legal Obligation to Keep Prisoners With Mental Health Disabilities Out of Segregation

Today, the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) filed a motion with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) for an order to hold Ontario accountable for failing to meet its legal obligations to keep prisoners with mental health disabilities out of segregation.

The OHRC’s motion sets out that Ontario has:

  • Failed to ensure that people with mental health disabilities are only placed in segregation as a last resort
