Downtown Accessibility Ramp Project Kicks Off

A project to install free accessibility ramps at downtown business entrances kicked off Wednesday at Dr. Cobbler Shoes and Swirls. Project working group member Christine Farrell, left, proposed implementing the StopGap Foundation project in the city. Ontarians to Use Electronic Voting Machines in June Election

For the first time in a provincial election in Ontario, voters will use electronic voting machines when they head to the polls on June 7.

The voters’ paper lists will also be a thing of past in most ridings, replaced by an electronic version called e-Poll Book.

Elections Ontario says the new technology should help speed up both the voting and ballot-counting process.

SUMMARY

On March 20, 2018, the Ontario Government invited public comment, which it would give to the Employment Standards Development Committee. That Committee is conducting a review of the 2011 Employment Accessibility Standard, which the Government enacted under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. It aims at removing and preventing workplace barriers that impede employees and job-seekers with disabilities from getting and keeping a job.
