For many people with disabilities, accessibility doesn’t necessarily equal accommodation. When it comes to using the internet, for instance, computers aren’t usually tailored for people with certain disabilities, like severe visual impairment or upper-body paralysis. But the website Essential Accessibility, a resource that allows people with disabilities (PWD) to use the web with ease so that they can go about their daily lives and focus on more important things, is hoping to change all that.

eSSENTIAL Accessibility and Omni Hotels & Resorts have partnered to launch the eSSENTIAL Accessibility app, an exciting accessibility initiative for guests with disabilities. The eSSENTIAL Accessibility app provides keyboard and mouse replacement tools that help individuals with physical, reading and age-related disabilities navigate the web. Through the app’s motion technology and voice activated controls, guests can make reservations, research destinations and take advantage of offers.
In 2014, ANA partnered with eSSENTIAL Accessibility to introduce the People with Disabilities category to the Multicultural Excellence Awards and the Multicultural Marketing & Diversity Conference. In its first year, the People with Disabilities Category won the Best-in-Show award for Duracell and Derek Coleman’s story.
